Our ideal taco crawl

Breakfast:

Tacos Hola El Güero

what to order? everything is great. try the chorizo with potatoes (chorizo con papas).

Lunch:

El Turix

what to order? cochinita reigns supreme here. try the tacos, but order a pauncho or two, too. don’t forget to slather on the habanero salsa.

Jeni’s Quesadillas

what to order? everything is great. i opt for the vegetarian options.

Taquería El Torito

what to order? this place is an institution and is most famous for their suadero and tripe (stomach) tacos.

Taquería LOS HUARACHINES

what to order? al pastor and more al pastor

Dinner:

Doña Isa Quesadillas

what to order? any of the vegetarian quesadillas.

Cariñito Tacos

what to order? go as a group of 2 and order one of each of these Asian-influenced tacos and a can of wine.

Tacos Ruben’s

what to order? go hungry and order at least 4 tacos (you’ll thank me later). i’d opt for two suadero and two campechano. the salsas aren’t super spicy, so feel free to drown all your tacos in both salsas. rachel’s dad was known to eat 14 in a couple of hours ;)

Birria Estilo Jalisco - Food Stand

what to order? like the name implies, you’d order birria. if you’re feeling super adventurous and like spice, ask for the fried chilis to accompany your birria. good place to go when you get sick of waiting for your turn at Rosetta.
